  • The Marine and Coastal Access Act

    The Marine and Coastal Access Bill received Royal Assent on 12 November 2009. "This is the first time the UK has had such a coherent and coordinated approach to managing our seas," Environment Minister Jane Davidson said as the Marine and Coastal Access Bill was passed into law.

  • Pre-consultation on the draft Marine Policy Statement

    A discussion paper on the Marine Policy Statement (MPS) was launched on 12th March 2010 and can be accessed at http://new.wales.gov.uk/consultations/environmentandcountryside/premarinepolicy/?lang=en The MPS will be the first step in the new marine planning system to be introduced around the UK and will set out the policies that will help achieve sustainable development in the UK seas. It will provide the framework for preparing marine plans and taking decisions that affect the marine environment.
